The remains of one of the suspected London suicide bombers were buried in a remote village in Pakistan today, hours after his coffin arrived in this Islamic nation from Britain.
Shahzad Tanweer blew himself up with three other youths on July 7 during co-ordinated attacks on London’s transport system that left 52 people dead.
Although Pakistan has said it was helping British investigators in their efforts aimed at finding clues about those who masterminded the attacks, the country’s Interior Minister Aftab Khan Sherpao today said he could not immediately confirm whether Tanweer’s remains had arrived in Pakistan.
However, Mohammed Amin, a regional police official, said Tanweer’s remains arrived in the eastern city of Lahore this morning, and his funeral was held in the village of Sumandri in the eastern Punjab province, where his family lived.
