Ipswich manager Jim Magilton has revealed the club have pulled out of a loan move for Portsmouth striker David Nugent.
The England forward had been expected to complete a move to the Coca-Cola Championship play-off hopefuls this week, but his continuing struggle with injury has put paid to the switch.
Nugent – who moved to Fratton Park from Preston in the summer – is currently sidelined with an abductor injury, having recently undergone a groin operation.
And Magilton told the club’s official website, www.itfc.co.uk: “The Portsmouth medical people have told us today that David is still not fit and won’t be until next week at the earliest.
“Games are running out for us now and we have decided we need to move on and look at other targets.
“We have other irons in the fire and will step up our interest elsewhere now.”
