This afternoon’s meeting at Sandown has been given the go-ahead after course officials scrapped plans for a 7.30am precautionary inspection.
Eight millimetres of rainfall on Thursday and an unfavourable forecast were the motives behind the intended early-morning check.
However, the Esher track only sustained one millimetre of overnight rainfall to delight clerk of the course Andrew Cooper.
He said: “It blew a gale for most of the night – it’s actually pretty windy now – so from a ground point of view, we’ve escaped lightly.”
The going on the chase course, which stages the Grade One paddypower.com Tingle Creek Chase on Saturday, is soft, good to soft in places.
The hurdle course is heavy.
