Professional vacancies drop in September

The Morgan McKinley Irish Employment Monitor has registered a 3% increase overall, in jobs coming onto the market this year from January to September when compared to the same period last year.

However, the survey shows there was a 4% decrease in the number of new professional job vacancies registered last month from 8,527 in August to 8,184 in September.

Compared to the same time last year, the number of new professional job vacancies is down 8%.

The Operations Director with Morgan McKinley is Brian Hyland.

"Through September it's been a reasonably flat month," said Brian Hyland, Operations Director with Morgan McKinley.

"Year on year we've seen a slight decrease in the number of jobs coming to the market while we've seen an increase in candidates."

He said September had started quite slow, but that the number of vacancies on offer had picked up in the second half of the month.
