The Republic of Ireland are 23rd in the latest FIFA world rankings, released this morning.
Martin O'Neill's side have enjoyed a good start to their World qualification campaign, winning three out of their four games including an away victory in Austria.
As a result, Ireland have moved up ten places since the last time the rankings were released, the highest they have been in O’Neill’s reign.
Austria are the nearest placed of our Group D rivals, in 31st, while Serbia are 44th, Georgia are 119th and minnows Moldova are 162nd.
Argentina are top of the world rankings, with Germany second and Brazil in third place.
Wales and England have both dropped one place, to 12th and 13th respectively. Northern Ireland have moved up four places to 32nd while Scotland have fallen 10 places to 67th.
