Grohl launches tirade against 'Glee' creator

Dave Grohl has blasted ‘Glee’ creator Ryan Murphy for criticising bands who don’t want their music in his show.

The rocker has no interest in allowing Foo Fighters’ songs to be featured on the musical TV series and thinks Ryan is wrong to presume every artist would want to have their tracks used.

He told The Hollywood Reporter: “It's every band's right, you shouldn't have to do f***ing 'Glee’. And then the guy who created 'Glee' is so offended that we're not, like, begging to be on his f***ing show … f**k that guy for thinking anybody and everybody should want to do 'Glee'."

Grohl is particularly angry that Murphy criticised Kings of Leon and former Guns N’ Roses guitarist Slash for refusing to allow him to reimagine their music in the ‘Glee’ style.

He angrily added: “What a f***ing jerk (Murphy). Slash was the first one. He wanted to do Guns N' Roses and Slash is like, 'I hate f***ing musicals. It's worse than 'Grease'.'

“Then [Murphy's] like, 'Well, of course he'd say that, he's a washed up old rock star, that's what they f***ing do.' And then Kings of Leon say, 'No, we don't want to be on your show.' And then he's like, 'Snotty little a*sholes...' And it's just like, 'Dude, maybe not everyone loves 'Glee'. Me included."

Murphy branded Kings of Leon "self-centred a*sholes" after they told him he couldn’t use their hit 'Use Somebody' in his show.

He said: "F**k you Kings of Leon. They're self-centred a*sholes, and they're missing the big picture. They missed that a seven-year-old kid can see someone close to their age singing a Kings of Leon song, which will maybe make them want to join a glee club or pick up a musical instrument.

"It's like, OK, hate on arts education. You can make fun of 'Glee' all you want, but at its heart, what we really do is turn kids on to music."
