Middlesbrough have dismissed suggestions they could be ready to hand Portuguese superstar Luis Figo a chance to shine in the Premiership.
The 32-year-old Real Madrid midfielder has been linked with several Barclays Premiership clubs after he was told he could leave the Bernabeu.
However, Boro boss Steve McClaren is determined to recruit players in the 24 to 28-year-old age bracket and Figo does not fit that profile.
“We have absolutely no interest in Figo,” chief executive Keith Lamb told the club’s official website, www.mfc.premiumtv.co.uk.
