Huge hawk mascot lands on fan during game

The Seattle Seahawks’ mascot caused consternation yesterday when she decided to go soaring over the crowds during their match.

The Seahawks were taking on the New York Giants in week 10 of the NFL when their mascot, a halk called Taima, escaped her handler.

The 9-year-old Augur Hawk, with a wingspan of just under 1.5 metres, first chose one unfortunate fan’s head as a perch.

The guy stayed a helluva lot calmer than most people would, and the bird soon hopped to another fan’s arm.

Taima, who is a carnivore bird of prey and hunts reptiles, birds and small mammals was happy to pose for pictures before heading back to her handler.

Check out those talons - not a bird you want to make angry.
