Screen legend Dame Elizabeth Taylor relived her glory days at the Cannes Film Festival today with a special showing of one of her classic films.
The 71-year-old actress attended a charity gala screening of Giant, the 1956 movie in which she starred opposite James Dean.
But Taylor, who has been plagued by ill health for many years, stayed only a few minutes.
Dressed in a pastel blue suit and pearls, her frailty was plain to see as she was helped up the red carpet by two male aides.
She had been due to address the audience but complained that she did not feel well enough.
The star was driven away from the cinema in a black limousine flanked by a police escort.
The screening of the digitally remastered Giant was part of a fundraiser for Taylor’s Aids charity amsAR.
She recently announced she was retiring from the acting business to concentrate on the charity.
Also attending tonight’s screening was George Stevens, son of the Giant director.
