The mother of a captured US soldier who was paraded and questioned in front of tv cameras by the Iraqis has said she was praying for his rescue.
Anecita Hudson, whose 23-year-old army specialist son Joseph was one of five US soldiers shown yesterday on Arab satellite station Al-Jazeera, said after watching the tv footage: “From my point of view, he looked so scared.”
Mrs Hudson, of of Alamogordo, New Mexico, said she prays fellow soldiers ”will get him out of there”.
The prisoners, four men and one woman, from the 507th Maintenance Company, were captured around Nasiriyah, a major crossing point over the Euphrates River 200 miles south-east of Baghdad.
Four bodies could be seen lying on the floor of the room where the captive soldiers were being quizzed.
At least five prisoners, speaking American-accented English, were interviewed. Two were bandaged, including the woman.
