Middlesbrough defender Franck Queudrue has been handed a three-match ban after having an appeal against his red card at Tottenham rejected.

Boro appealed against referee Phil Dowd’s decision to dismiss the Frenchman for a two-footed tackle on Noe Pamarot.

But their plea failed and the full-back will now be forced to sit out the Premiership clash with Manchester City on Monday night as well as Southampton away and Aston Villa at home.

“Franck Queudrue’s appeal was rejected,” said an FA spokesman.

“He has been given a three-match ban, starting with immediate effect.”
