Curragh on Salmon schedule

Beef Or Salmon is set to return to action in Sunday’s Hacketts Bookmakers Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh.

Beef Or Salmon is set to return to action in Sunday’s Hacketts Bookmakers Irish Cesarewitch at the Curragh.

Trainer Michael Hourigan is eyeing a crack at the two-mile race as he prepares the 11-year-old for another campaign over jumps.

Hourigan has already pencilled in the James Nicholson Wine Merchant Champion Chase at Down Royal on November 3 for Beef Or Salmon’s first start over obstacles but sees the Curragh event as a good starting point.

“The plan is to run him on Sunday. I want to get a run into him before he heads for Down Royal and the only doubt concerning Sunday is the ground,” he told the Racing Post.

“If it went any way fast he wouldn’t run.”
