At least three people have died and another four are missing after a United Nations helicopter crashed into the sea off the coast of Sierra Leone yesterday.

At least three people have died and another four are missing after a United Nations helicopter crashed into the sea off the coast of Sierra Leone yesterday.

Seven people were on board the helicopter and rescuers have recovered three bodies from the water.

The helicopter crashed near Freetown, the capital of Sierra Leone. A witness reported a loud explosion, but there were no reports of an attack on the craft.

The UN has a large peacekeeping force in the west African nation to disarm the country’s rebel armies.

A force from the British Army is also in the country training government troops.
