West Ham defender Malky Mackay has ruled himself out of the World Cup qualifying double header with Scotland.
The 32-year-old suffered a calf problem in the Coca-Cola Championship game against Nottingham Forest on September 26 and is likely to be out for up to four weeks.
The former Norwich man will now miss the visit of Norway to Hampden Park on October 9 and the trip to Moldova four days later.
Mackay told the Scottish Daily Mail: "This is a terrible blow and very bad news for me. I had a scan which revealed a tear in the calf. I missed the Derby game last week and will miss this week’s game with Wolves.
“The West Ham physio tells me I could be out for two to four weeks, which gave me no option but to withdraw from the squad. I’ve waited a long time to get into the Scotland squad and I can’t believe this.”
