Tariq limbering up for Lockinge

Peter Chapple-Hyam believes Tariq is shaping up nicely ahead of the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

Peter Chapple-Hyam believes Tariq is shaping up nicely ahead of the Juddmonte Lockinge Stakes at Newbury on Saturday.

The Group One event will see the top milers clash for the first time this season, and the Newmarket handler is pleased with the progress his son of Kyllachy is making.

After winning in Group Three and Group Two company last season, he was a fast-finishing fifth behind Toylsome on his final start in the Prix de la Foret at Longchamp.

“I am very happy with Tariq – he has been working very nicely,” Chapple-Hyam told his website, www.peterchapplehyam.com.

“He is in good form and I think he will get a mile – the trip should suit him.

“He handles all ground so there are no worries there.”

Jeremy Noseda’s Arabian Gleam is set to make his seasonal reappearance while Mick Channon’s Majestic Roi, who won the Sun Chariot at the end of last season but disappointed in Dubai, is also set to run.

Both horses are owned under the Rabbah Bloodstock Racing banner.

“Arabian Gleam is a horse we’ve always thought a lot of and he didn’t disappoint last season, winning the Park Stakes at Doncaster,” said bloodstock director Bruce Raymond.

“His trainer Jeremy Noseda is happy with how the horse has been training this spring and he’ll be competitive if he can take this step up to a mile in his stride.

“The sunshine in Dubai did Majestic Roi no harm at all and she has picked up quickly this spring since returning from there,” he told www.rabbahbloodstock.com.

“Her work has been pleasing Mick Channon and as a Group One winner over a mile last autumn, she has to be running in these sort of races.”
