A man who drowned in Michael Barrymore's swimming pool was a father who had recently split from his girlfriend, according to a neighbour.

Stuart Lubbock, 31, a wholesale butcher's supervisor, from Harlow, Essex, died in hospital after being found at Barrymore's home in Roydon, near Harlow.

Doreen Crouch said Mr Lubbock had a daughter, aged around two, and had recently split up with his girlfriend.

Police said post-mortem tests had shown that Mr Lubbock died from drowning. Further toxicology tests are being carried out.

Neighbours said Mr Lubbock lived with his father and brother in a terrace house in Great Brays, Harlow.

Mrs Crouch said: "I am shocked to hear that it is Stuart. I wouldn't have thought he would have known Michael Barrymore or had anything to do with him. "

She added: "I know he had split up with his girlfriend a few months ago and had moved back in with his Dad. I think he has been back only since just before Christmas. "

She added: "The family have lived here for years, probably 25 or 26 years. The parents marriage broke up 20 odd years ago when Stuart and Kevin were small children.

"I wouldn't say they were average sort of lads. Not ones to go out drinking and clubbing so much. Stuart was the more sociable one."
