Presenter Anne Robinson could be about to test America’s brainpower as the US gets ready to Test The Nation.
The Weakest Link host is in talks to present a national mental dexterity test, like the ratings hit she fronted at the weekend on BBC1.
Nine million viewers watched the live show on Saturday, which involved viewers answering a series of questions and solving problems to measure their IQs.
Miss Robinson has become a star in the US after the success of her Stateside version of The Weakest Link, which is now being scaled back.
Prime-time editions of Link will continue throughout the summer but from September onwards they will be cut back to a number of celebrity specials.
But her husband and agent John Penrose said today: ‘‘The good thing about The Weakest Link being reduced is that it now frees her up for new things.
‘‘And there is a possibility that she might test the nation’s IQ in America. It is under discussion now.
‘‘The possibility of testing America’s IQ would make an interesting evening.’’
Just days ago Miss Robinson was dismissive of Americans’ knowledge, pointing out that many had a limited grasp of geography because they had never travelled outside their state.
Miss Robinson has had a hectic schedule over the past few months as she filmed editions of The Weakest Link - which earned her the nickname the Queen of Mean - on both sides of the Atlantic.
‘‘She recorded 82 shows in the US last year plus 250 for the BBC,’’ said Mr Penrose.
‘‘Weakest Link is by no means dead in the water. It may come back in another season. The future is still under discussion.’’
