Irish fruit importer Fyffes plc has been awarded a prestigious European accreditation that assures consumers concerning of its product safety.
Fyffes, who import 17% of the European Union's bananas, was awarded the European Retailers Environmental Protocol (EUREP), which specifies minimum requirements to be met by growers of fruit and vegetables that supply the major European retailers.
It also addresses consumer concerns about food safety, environmental protection and worker welfare, and promotes best agricultural practice.
Shares in Fyffes traded at €1.70 on the ISEQ this morning.
