Aided by a strong wind Clare led by 1-8 to 0-5 at the interval, with Shane McGrath netting the only goal of the tie for the hosts.

The sides shared eight points equally in the second half, as Clare held out for their fourth win of the campaign.

At Aughrim, Wicklow had a 2-13 to 0-14 win over Limerick. They led by 1-5 to 0-6 at the break with Tony Hannon netting the hosts' goal.

A Leighton Glynn goal pushed Wicklow 2-8 to 0-8 ahead on the restart.

Limerick suffered another setback with the dismissal of defender Lorcan O'Dwyer on a straight red card.

Meanwhile, Carlow were 3-11 to 1-6 winners over Kilkenny at Freshford.

JJ Smith netted two of the visitors' goals, while Sean Gannon completed the Carlow hat-trick.

Kilkenny registered their biggest tally of the campaign to date though, Graham Lawlor was their goal scorer.
