A Japanese woman is suing Google after pictures of her underwear appeared on Google Street View.

The unnamed female wants over $7,000 (€5,335) from the search engine giants, claiming she suffered psychological distress as a result of her washing line being featured on the Street View function.

She told a court hearing in the city of Fukuoka: “I was overwhelmed with anxiety that I might be the target of a sex crime. It caused me to lose my job and I had to change my residence.

“I could understand if it was just a picture of the outside of the apartment, but showing a person's underwear hanging outside is absolutely wrong.”
