Ireland have left a vacancy at full back as Girvan Dempsey and Geordan Murphy both battle to regain match fitness for Saturday's Six Nations clash with Wales.

Dempsey is still recovering from a hip problem, while Murphy is nursing an Achilles strain.

A decision on who should fill the position will be taken following training on Thursday.

Elsewhere, Paul O'Connell and Rory Best are both back in the starting line-up for the Croke Park clash after coming on as substitutes during the Scotland tie.

They replace Mick O'Driscoll and Bernard Jackman, who both drop to the bench.
