This afternoon's fixture at Fontwell has been abandoned due to frost.

Officials at the West Sussex circuit moved forward their proposed 8am inspection after overnight temperatures dipped to a shuddering -9C.

Clerk of the course Ed Arkell said: "We had a -9C overnight, and are just about to hit the coldest part of the day.

"It's frozen solid - we just didn't have a chance.

"It's such a shame because the groundstaff have done an absolutely outstanding job and worked so hard in attempting to get this meeting on."
