Tomorrow's Cork meet abandoned

Tomorrow's racing at Cork has been abandoned due to a waterlogged track.

Following yet more rain, officials have been left with no option but to call off the card, leaving Wolverhampton's all-weather meeting as the only one either side of the Irish Sea to beat the weather.

Irish Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: "Unfortunately they have had to have a look at things and they have found the course to be waterlogged.

"There has been persistent and heavy rain all day today and it just hasn't cleared.

"The forecast had suggested the rain would come but then it would clear away, which it didn't.

"The clerk of the course has been to look at things and found it unfit for racing, so unfortunately the meeting is abandoned."
