Azealia Banks cancels Electric Picnic performance - again

Electric Picnic organisers have today confirmed that US rapper Azealia Banks will not appear at the festival this weekend.

"Following on from reports earlier announcing that Azealia Banks cancelled her performance at Ibiza Rocks, we can confirm she also has pulled out of Electric Picnic 2012 due to exhaustion," said a statement on the official Facebook page.

"We wish her a speedy recovery!"

The statement came after a period of confusion for fans which saw Banks first cancel due to recording commitments.

Although organisers last night denied rumours of a pull-out, this morning the "double cancellation" was confirmed. Organiser expressed their disappointment, labelling "a first" for the arts and music festival.

Her set, due to take place at 11.15pm on the Cosby Stage, was among the most anticipated of the weekend, following the success of Banks' single '212', which has garnered almost 30 million hits on YouTube.

A replacement act has not yet been announced.

The Electric Picnic arts and music festival begins tomorrow and continues through the weekend in Stradbally, Co Laois. Tickets are available from Ticketmaster.
