An 86-year-old German accused of the massacres of civilians, including children, as the commander of a Nazi special unit in Slovakia 59 years ago, has been arrested in Munich.
The man, identified only as Ladislav N, has been charged with 164 counts of murder.
A naturalised German born in Slovakia, he is accused of commanding the Slovak section of a Nazi special unit to combat resistance fighters.
German prosecutors have charged him in the killings of 146 people, including 51 children under 18, at Ostry Grun and Klak in January 1945.
He is also accused of ordering the shooting of 18 Jewish civilians who were discovered in their hiding places at Ksina in February 1945.
