An English couple have broke the record for the world’s longest kiss.
James Belshaw, 26, and Sophia Severin, 23, shared a single unbroken kiss for 31 hours, 30 minutes and 30 seconds to break a record set on the Ricky Lake Show four years ago.
Under the rules, their lips had to remain in contact at all times and they were not allowed to sit down or be supported in any way.
The only sustenance they were allowed had to be through a straw and they were even forced to answer the call of nature together.
The couple, who have been dating for three years, began at 11.15am on Wednesday morning in the Plaza Shopping Centre on London’s Oxford Street.
They continued kissing the following morning as terrorist bombs, one less than a mile away in Tavistock Place, brought the streets outside to a standstill and the other shops in the centre closed.
When they finally finished their kiss at 6.45pm on Thursday, they had broken the previous record set by an American couple by more than half an hour.
