Turkey is warning the United Nations that it may need help to cope with a surge in refugees from Syria.

Almost 3,000 have crossed the border in the last 36 hours - ten times as many as in previous days.

It follows heavy fighting in Syria - despite a UN ceasefire coming into effect in six days.
