Books of condolence for the families of Holly Wells and Jessica Chapman are being opened at a Birmingham cathedral.

Church leaders have taken the decision to allow people moved by events of the past few weeks to pay their respects at St Philip's Cathedral.

The books of condolence will be open until Sunday.

A statement from the church said: "We cannot begin to understand the agony and despair that the families of Jessica and Holly will be feeling.

"However their sense of grief and sense of loss will be felt by all who have dared to hope that this tragedy would not end in this way."
