Eddie Hickey earned Galway a point as the bottom two still await their first goals of the season.

Monaghan wasted the best chance of the first-half when Hickey saved with his feet from Darren McKenna on 43 minutes.

Ken Lundy shot wide early in the second half before Brian Mooney forced another save from Hickey as Monaghan upped the tempo.

Hickey then rescued Galway again four minutes from time when out-foxing

McKenna once more when the striker seemed set to score.
