Officials at Galway have been forced to cancel today’s meeting with the track currently waterlogged in places.

The course has been hit by a substantial amount of rain overnight and with the track unraceable, officials were left with little option but to call off the card.

Turf Club press officer Cliff Noone said: “Today’s meeting at Galway has been cancelled as the track is waterlogged in places.

“There has been over 20 millimetres of rain overnight and this morning.”

Galway are also due to race on Wednesday and Noone added: “I would imagine they will be having an inspection but they need things to settle down a bit before making any plans.”
