Cork band MKAI knocks Taylor Swift off #3 spot in iTunes charts

Meet MKAI - the Cork Band who have kicked Taylor Swift’s global sensation album '1989' off the number three spot on the Irish iTunes charts.

Their debut album 'Waiting' orginally debuted in at number 11 and has since creeped its way up to number three - with only One Direction and The Foo Fighters standing between them for the number one spot.

This puts them ahead of Ed Sheeran’s album X, Sam Smith’s In the Lonely Hour and Hozier self titled album.

WOW

So who are MKAI you ask?

MKAI – A duo, consisting of Cork brothers Conor and Cian MacSweeny, though when playing live they are accompanied by their fellow siblings Eoghan and Colm to form a four piece live band.

The band made their debut appearance at Electric Picnic in 2013 and since then they set up a fund it campaign to raise money for their debut four track EP.

After successfully reaching their target they recorded the album in Ballintubbert House, Dublin and were lucky enough to secure help from top producer Rob Kirwan (Hozier, Bell X1 and U2).

The album was launched in The Crane Lane, Cork on Saturday night and there’s no stopping them now.

Congrats guys, we can’t wait to hear more!
