Bobby Brown is “grateful” to be “off the heroin, the crack, the coke”.

The ‘My Prerogative’ singer - who struggled with heavy substance abuse for year – is celebrating six years of being sober and is thankful to get a clean break in life.

He said: “I'm definitely in a better place in my life. Six years sober from drugs. I'm just really grateful that I can get off the heroin, the crack, the coke.

“Thank God I've been able to pick myself up from everything that has hurt me in the past. You have to know yourself and you have to learn to love yourself and I love myself now.”

Brown, 42, was divorced Whitney Houston in 2007 after 15 years of marriage and is now engaged to his manager Alicia Etheridge, whom he credits with helping turn himself around.

He added to website theboombox.com: “At times when it gets really hard, she's right there, you know, to hold me and let me know, you know, 'Look at where you come from and look at where you are right now.' I'm just grateful."

With his newfound sobriety, Bobby is also looking forward to his return to music, with his new album ‘The Masterpiece’, which will encompass all his ups and downs.

He said: "Unfortunately my mom passed away and I had to do something quick, so 'The Masterpiece' is just 13 years of my ups and downs and everything that I've been through. I'm just grateful to be able to put this album out because I really feel it is a masterpiece."

Brown also added he has addressed rumours Bobbi Kristina – his 18-year-old daughter with Whitney - has allegedly used drugs.

He added: “I did talk to her. I have all faith in my daughter that she's going to stay strong for herself. My daughter is doing great. I love her dearly."

Brown also has four other children, 22-month-old Cassius with Alicia, and grown up children Landon, Bobby, Jr. and LaPrincia from previous relationships.
