The ISEQ index of Irish shares suffered a slight 13.51 point fall to finish on 3,342.18.

In the financial sector, Allied Irish Banks led the way, gaining 6c to €1.61. Bank of Ireland was up 5c to €1.72, but Irish Life and Permanent fell 5c to €3.44.

There were some decent gains. DCC improved 12c to €21.30 and FBD was 10c better off on €7.80.

Some firms endured falls, however. Paddy Power plunged 45c to €26.25. Kerry Group (down 34c to €23.40), Kingspan (down 21c to €7.24) and Smurfit Kappa (down 18c to €6.90) all lost ground.
