Beverage manufacturer C&C Group has today announced that the managing director of the firm's cider division is to retire with effect from May 1, 2008.
Brendan McGuinness, 63, joined C&C in 1971 as marketing manager and was appointed managing director of the cider division in 1976.
C&C will announce its succession plans in due course.
Brendan McGuinness has been responsible for the repositioning of Bulmers as a premium cider brand with a significant share of the long alcohol drinks market.
He has also been heading the international development of C&C’s cider under the Magners brand name, particularly in Great Britain.
“C&C’s Cider division has achieved phenomenal success over the last 20 years and I have thoroughly enjoyed being part of a great team which made this happen,” said McGuinness.
“Over the next six months, I will lead the implementation of change necessitated by the current trading and competitive environment to ensure that we enter the next financial year with the appropriate organisation structure in place to deliver long term growth.”
