Israeli Labour Party leader Amir Peretz today told Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that he should hold new parliamentary elections by the end of March, eight months ahead of schedule.

Israeli Labour Party leader Amir Peretz today told Prime Minister Ariel Sharon that he should hold new parliamentary elections by the end of March, eight months ahead of schedule.

Peretz, head of the second largest party in Sharon’s coalition, spoke after meeting the premier to discuss moving up the elections.

“I’m letting him choose between late February and late March,” Peretz said.

Sharon did not immediately comment.
