French Grand Prix organisers are closing in on their target of improved attendance at this season’s Magny-Cours race.
The French round of the championship has traditionally been poorly attended due to Magny-Cours’ rural location but organisers today announced 50,000 tickets have already been sold prior to the July 3 race.
Last season’s race attracted 70,000 fans and organisers have pulled out all the stops to attract more fans in 2005, with tickets available in more locations than ever and promotions geared to foreign fans.
Jacques Regis, president of the French motorsport federation, said: “We are doing our utmost to ensure this coming July will be even more enjoyable and interesting for the spectators.”
