Ante-post favourite Dare To Dance has been ruled out of this afternoon’s Betfred Cambridgeshire at Newmarket on account of the ground.
The three-year-old crept into the field for the fiercely competitive handicap at number 33 of the 35 declared runners, but trainer Jeremy Noseda revealed on Friday he was concerned conditions may be too fast.
After walking the track at Headquarters this morning, he has decided against letting the colt take his chance as he feels it is the right decision with the future in mind.
“In my opinion it is good to firm ground and it will tighten up as the day goes on,” Noseda told Channel 4 Racing’s The Morning Line.
“They finished watering last night and I have seen it this morning with no chance for it to dry out and with a pretty heavy morning dew on it, so I’ve seen it at it’s very best.
“It’s lovely, fast racing ground, but I don’t feel it’s necessarily what my horse wants at this stage of his career in this type of race in the fourth race of his life. I feel this horse has a big future in front of him as a four-year-old.”
Cambridgeshire outsider Tinkertown has also been declared a non-runner.
