Japanese stocks have fallen to a 26-year-low this morning as concerns grow about the health of the world's banks.
In New York, the Dow Jones fell 300 points yesterday - closing at a 12-year low.
European markets also closed lower yesterday after a fresh taxpayer bail-out of US insurance giant AIG and disappointing results from HSBC bank.
The ISEQ index was down 93 points to end at its lowest closing price in around 14 years, while in the UK, the FTSE 100 index closed at a six-year low.
