Biel aiming for role in 'Turtles' movie

Jessica Biel wants to play April O'Neil in the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' remake.

Jessica Biel wants to play April O'Neil in the 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' remake.

The 'Total Recall' actress admits she has always been a big fan of the original comic book series and if she was to star in the Jonathan Liebesman-directed project then she would want to play the flame-haired TV reporter.

She told Collider.com: "I dig the Ninja Turtles. I always liked the Ninja Turtles – didn't they already make that movie though?

“I dig April, she’s cool. She wore a yellow suit and she was a redhead. That was a great show, I loved it as a kid so sure! Yeah!”

The movie has reportedly been put back until May 2014 and producer Michael Bay recently revealed the forthcoming film will feature a "complex back story".

He said: "Fans need to take a breath, and chill. They have not read the script. Our team is working closely with one of the original creators of Ninja Turtles to help expand and give a more complex back story.

"Relax, we are including everything that made you become fans in the first place. We are just building a richer world."

Should Jessica land the role, she will follow in the footsteps of Sarah Michelle Gellar, who played April in the 2007 computer-animated movie 'TMNT'.
