Angelina Jolie has filed legal papers in Vietnam to adopt for the third time, an adoption official has confirmed.
The Mr & Mrs Smith actress, 31, has applied to adopt a Vietnamese child, but it is not clear whether partner Brad Pitt's name was also in the documents.
Vu Duc Long, director of the south east Asian nation's International Adoption Agency announced today he had received documents from a US agency representing Jolie.
Long admitted her application may take longer to process because she is unmarried.
"She is not yet married so the file was from her individually. It will take a few months for us to consider this," he said.
The couple and their family visited Vietnam in November in between filming of A Mighty Heart in Pakistan.
Jolie and Pitt are adoptive parents to five-year-old Maddox, from neighbouring Cambodia, and two-year-old Zahara Marley, from Ethiopia.
The actress gave birth to their biological child Shiloh Nouvel in Namibia in May.
