Rice arrives in Israel for Mideast talks

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Israel today for talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders on reviving long-stalled peacemaking.

US Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice arrived in Israel today for talks with Israeli and Palestinian leaders on reviving long-stalled peacemaking.

Rice is to meet first with a group of Palestinian moderates, and then with Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas in his West Bank headquarters in Ramallah.

She is then to head back to Israel for dinner with Prime Minister Ehud Olmert.

Tomorrow, she is to meet with Israeli Foreign Minister Tzipi Livni and Defence Minister Amir Peretz.
