F1: Montoya the Juan to back

Michael Schumacher may have the Formula One drivers’ championship in the bag - but Juan Pablo Montoya is the man in form and can win the United States Grand Prix this weekend.

Michael Schumacher may have the Formula One drivers’ championship in the bag - but Juan Pablo Montoya is the man in form and can win the United States Grand Prix this weekend.

The Williams man has been slow to adapt to the demands of F1 racing, but the penny has dropped all right in recent weeks as three pole positions out of four suggest.

Then there was his debut win at Monza two weeks ago, when Montoya displayed the consistency to go with his undoubted talent.

Ladbrokes can’t split Montoya and Schumacher at 2/1 the pair - with Ralf Schumacher 3/1, Rubens Barrichello 6/1, David Coulthard 10/1 and Mika Hakkinen 14s.

But with the Indianapolis track sure to suit the Colombian, back Montoya to join an illustrious group by adding this prize to his Indy 500 crown.
