Readers' Blog: 'RTÉ - supporting the arts' not accurate as long as they participate in Israel's Eurovision
On the radio, whenever I hear the jingle "RTÉ Supporting The Arts", that follows an ad for a concert or some cultural event, I can't help thinking that it should be changed.
For as long as RTÉ continues to consider taking part in this years Eurovision Song Contest in Israel, it should be changed to, "RTÉ Supporting War Crimes", or "RTÉ Supporting Apartheid ", or "RTÉ Supporting Racism", because that is what this call by Palestinians to boycott this event this year does.
It forces us to take sides.
We either support the victim or we support the criminal.
Each day that RTÉ continues to include itself in this celebration of crimes against an innocent and defenceless people is another day of shame, for all of us, and the values we say we have.
We need to withdraw from this with dignity, while we still have some.
