A man went on a rampage in Norway today, killing three people at random and injuring another two before committed suicide after being wounded by police gunfire.

The man, armed with a shotgun when he killed himself, had been chased by police after “a number of people” had been stabbed in and near the town of Sandefjord, some 75 miles south west of Oslo, police said.

Two of the those killed were stabbed.

It was not immediately clear if the third victim was stabbed or shot.

The man was believed to have attacked a total of five people.

He committed suicide after police negotiation attempts with him failed.

Police also fired a non-fatal gunshot at the man.
