Elton John is prepared to sing Candle In The Wind at the Princess Diana memorial concert next year if her sons give him permission.
John has refused to sing the emotional track, which he originally wrote with Bernie Taupin for Marilyn Monroe, since he performed it at the tragic British royal's funeral service in London's St Paul's Cathedral in September 1997, claiming to do so would be "inappropriate".
However, after agreeing to perform at a concert in London's Wembley Stadium next July, John says he would reconsider playing the song, despite his self-imposed ban on the track.
John says: "I'll do it if the princes want me to.
"I am at their service and if they think it is appropriate, then I'll be okay for it. They'll tell me when they are ready."
John will join Duran Duran, Joss Stone and Bryan Ferry at the star-studded concert next summer.
