The number of redundancies in Ireland for the year to date stands at 24,844, up from 23,580 for the same period last year.
However the Statistics released yesterday from the Department of Enterprise, Trade and Employment show redundancies were slightly lower in November with 2,235 redundancies.
This means that 26 fewer people lost jobs in November compared to October when the figure was 2,361.
The November figure was also down on the same month last year when 2,531 people were out of work.
However despite this slight upturn the figures for the year put the state on course for its worst year of redundancies since 1984.
