Former France defender Bruno N’gotty has made his loan move to Bolton permanent.
N’gotty, who joined Wanderers on loan from Marseille in September, has signed a contract with the Barclaycard Premiership outfit until 2004.
Manager Sam Allardyce had originally said N’gotty’s signing was dependent on the club staying in the top flight.
But he is delighted to have captured the 30-year-old permanently and said: ‘‘He has seen us and had a look at us and enjoyed his time with us.
‘‘We’ve taken the opportunity to sign someone who is a very important player to us.
‘‘Over the seasons he has played in Italy and he’s played in France, and his record before he came to us has been exceptionally good.
‘‘He has proved that in his time with us and he has been one of our most successful players recently.’’
N’gotty, who has played for Paris St Germain and AC Milan, said: ‘‘I’ve enjoyed my time here at Bolton and I’m looking forward to playing here beyond this season.’’
Allardyce also confirmed he is in talks with Cannes about a possible deal for their 20-year-old midfielder Gerald Forschelet.
