A mortar attack hit Baghdad’s airport compound today, shattering some office windows but causing no injuries, witnesses and airport officials said.

A mortar attack hit Baghdad’s airport compound today, shattering some office windows but causing no injuries, witnesses and airport officials said.

The shells landed near the headquarters of Iraqi Airways, several hundred yards from the passenger terminal.

Such attacks on the airport grounds, located in western Baghdad, have tailed off in recent months.

There was no major disruption to flights.
