Perry 'hurt' by knife controversy

Katy Perry insists she was "hurt" by the recent furore over a controversial promotional photo showing her holding a knife.

The 'I Kissed A Girl' hitmaker provoked outrage in the UK after snaps intended for her album, 'One For The Boys', surfaced last month.

Anti-crime protesters in Britain slammed the singer, branding her "out of her mind" and her behaviour "unacceptable".

Perry hit back, claiming she is "against all violence" and alleging the photo was several years old.

And now she has spoken out about all the trouble caused by the picture - insisting she was deeply upset by the ensuing row.

She says: "I was misrepresented because it was taken three or four years ago. It wasn't something I was trying to hide.

"Of course I'm a pop girl and I wanna make people happy, so it hurt me to be connected to something that is really a big deal in the UK right now.

"I don't care if people make fun of me. I don't care if they trash the record, but when I'm put into that kind of situation I feel helpless."
