Lindsay Lohan narrowly dodged serious injury at the video shoot for N.E.R.D.'s new song - when she arrived on set after a bloody brawl had broken out.

Just hours before the actress, 21, and her DJ pal Samantha Ronson filmed their cameos for the Pharrell Williams-fronted group's new single 'Everybody Nose' at New York City's Madison Club on Thursday, an altercation between hired extras erupted on set.

An onsite source tells gossip column PageSix, "They hired a few dozen club kids as extras for $50 (€31) apiece, and this fight erupted between two over a woman.

"One sliced the other's arm with a broken champagne glass, and blood was spurting from his artery. Kids were running and screaming from the room."

The victim was taken to the emergency room at St. Vincent's Hospital - while the culprit fled.

Another insider reports, "One of the extras was a convicted felon who is supposed to go back to jail in August. He slid in. They never would have used him, if they knew he was trouble."
